1. Installing a License Server¶
Downloads
-
Download the license server zip (link at the top of this page) and extract it. In this example, it has been extracted to the Documents folder.
-
The license server should be installed as a Windows service. When installed as a service, it will continue running even when no Windows users are logged in. To install it as a service you must start a command prompt as administrator - right click on Start and choose Command Prompt (Admin) form the context menu.
-
Browse to the license server installation folder and type
rlm -install_service -dlog log.txt
(you can copy and paste this line into the command prompt). -
The service has been installed, but it has NOT been started. Click on Start and type services, then right click on Services and select Run as administrator.
-
On the Services window search for RLM, select it and start the service.
-
The last step is to allow rlm.exe through the firewall. Open the Windows Firewall and click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.
-
Now, click on Change Settings followed by Allow another app.... Browse to the license server folder and select rlm.exe
